Experience: Appears as counsel before administrative tribunals and at all levels of jury and non-jury trials and appellate courts in Ontario; trial counsel in maritime law cases before the Federal Court of Canada; represents insurers and policyholders as insurance coverage counsel; advises underwriters and reinsurers on policy wording and regulatory matters; appointed by Order in Council as presiding lawyer member of the Board of Inquiry (Police Services Act), and the Consent and Capacity Board; appointed by the Governor General in Council as member of the Social Security Tribunal (Income Security Section); panel counsel to the Psychiatric Patients’ Advocate Office; counsel to psychiatric patients and substitute decision makers in hearings before the Consent and Capacity Board.
